Malathi's husband goes out to sea and is assumed dead, she bears his daughter and ends up on the street. The child, Nirmala, is given for adoption and Malathi is employed in the same house as the nanny. The father is not dead and does not have enough money to make the long journey home. When he is accused of a crime he didn't commit, he kidnaps a rich mans son and brings him up by stealing to make a living. A love affair between two people will reveal lost family connections.
